Colorado’s story is the story of mining and Creede stands as one of the last mining towns. Founded in 1892, it is 130 years old. At an elevation of 8,799 feet, it is the historic City of Creede is the Statutory Town that is the county seat, the most populous community, and the only incorporated municipality in Mineral County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 257 at the 2020 United States Census.
Judy Casey, MA in Education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is a retired literacy specialist; elementary school principal; university supervisor at University of Northern Colorado and a community volunteer.
