#3049 Book Discussion: 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan Peterson (6-part class, originally a 3-part class)

This was originally scheduled to be a three-part book discussion in September, but the first session was a rousing success. Therefore, we extended it to six weeks. Join the discussion even if you haven’t read the book.
Jordan Peterson’s essays in ethical principles, psychology, philosophy, mythology, and religion for today’s world is a 2018 self-help book by the Canadian clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson.
In this book we are counseled on how to live with one foot in Chaos and the other foot in Order. Jordan Peterson advocates for a life based on meaningfulness not happiness. We will discuss this book once a week for three weeks in an open forum setting. We will discuss four chapters at a time. Please read the appropriate chapters prior to each session. c. 2018. PPLD 12 copies, print and audio books.
Week one and two:
1. "Stand up straight with your shoulders back."
2. "Treat yourself like you are someone you are responsible for helping."
3. "Make friends with people who want the best for you."
4. "Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today."
Week three and four:
5. "Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them."
6. "Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world."
7. "Pursue what is meaningful, not what is expedient."
8. "Tell the truth – or, at least, don’t lie."
Week five and six:
9. "Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t."
10. "Be precise in your speech."
11. "Do not bother children when they are skateboarding."
12. "Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street."
