#2001 Geography is Destiny Part I

Instructor: Julia Hargrove

Why are the nations in the Northern Hemisphere generally more prosperous and politically stable than those in the Southern Hemisphere? Why was a “window on the West” so important to Peter the Great and Russia? What part do geography and climate play in disease and human mortality? Does geography influence the development of different cultures? What is the relationship between geography and natural resources? We will explore many of these questions as we look at the way geography influences human destiny.

Julia Hargrove, MA in American History from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a high school teacher for thirty years and was a professional writer of educational materials.
