#2002 Trade and Tariffs—Benefits and Costs

Thursday, May 8, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In recent months there has been much written and spoken about the benefits and costs of free trade and of tariffs. This session will present the arguments for and against free trade in the context of the current economic situation in the US. Building on the theory of trade, we will then examine the arguments for and against tariffs. These arguments include: who pays the tariffs, what are the benefits and costs, who wins and who loses from tariffs?
