Description
#1050 Pikes Peak Trolleys, Past, Present and Future
Tuesday, March 10, 10:00am - 12:00pm
Early Colorado Springs was blessed by a streetcar system that
was one of the best to be found anywhere. Winfield Scott Stratton
was the owner of the Colorado Springs Rapid Transit Railway
Company. This presentation will cover the history of streetcar
service pre- and post-Stratton, how it affected the lives of
residents, and what became of it. We will also review what is
going on presently in the trolley world and what we might
imagine in the future.
John Haney: MS in Urban Planning from the University of
Arizona. He is the remaining founding member of the Pikes
Peak Trolley Museum and Restoration Shop, which preserves
our local streetcar history. John has just released a beautiful
coffee table, 254-page revision of Pikes Peak Trolleys, which
he will have in the New Altitude lobby for purchase.
