#1066 The Historic Presidential Transition from Franklin Roosevelt to Harry Truman

President Franklin Roosevelt selected Senator Harry Truman to
be his vice-presidential candidate for his fourth term in 1944.
Following Roosevelt’s death in April 1945, Truman would
oversee the end of World War II and the establishment of the post
-war era. This presentation will focus on many of the domestic
and foreign policy initiatives of the Truman administration with a
particular focus on Truman’s decisions to use atomic weapons
against Japan to end WWII and the removal of General Douglas
MacArthur as the commander of UN forces during the Korean
War.
