Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation

Instructor: Chris Wurster

This is a videotaped class.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to our moment-to-moment experiences.  Through meditation, we can learn to concentrate and calm the mind and to cultivate the skills of mindfulness.  We start to become familiar with our own habitual mind patterns.  By seeing more clearly, we can learn to respond to life’s challenges more wisely and become less reactive.  By meeting all of our experiences in a kind, non-judgmental way and learning not to over-identify with our thoughts and emotions, we may start to notice a new sense of ease and calm in the body and mind.  This practice allows us to see through our mind’s conditioning, which in turn, allows us to live more often in the present moment.

Christopher Wurster, BS in Retailing from Syracuse University.
